vision

To create an environment of hope that embraces the concept of wellness and recovery from mental illness. To integrate this concept in all aspects of daily operations and service delivery:

  • Use of person-first language by all staff. An elimination of the use of all labeling, prejudicial and judgmental language from our interactions with each other and consumers.
  • Consciously and persistently using a strengths-based perspective with a focus on well-considered consumer choice, empowerment, self-advocacy, and recognition of the consumer as a person.
  • Assisting consumers to identify a goal in their environment of choice and actively working with them to achieve it. Seeing recovery as a personal journey that we assist people move along.
  • Promoting the concept of independence with recognition that this will be different for each individual at different times while recognizing that we are all interdependent. Working with consumers ‘where they are at’ as a starting point and not where we think they should be.
  • Recognizing that our relationships with consumers and with each other are necessary to successfully implement CSP-NJ’s mission and achieve our vision.
  • Promoting successes. Spontaneously sharing success stories with the entire CSP-NJ community.
  • Promoting holistic wellness education, values clarification, & spirituality. Assisting consumers to see themselves as a person with their own beliefs, values, and desires as opposed to a diagnosis or label.
  • Building and maintaining an “intentional community” that promotes inclusion, interdependence and challenges members to grow in a supportive environment
